Public Schools Are So Random...doyouknowwhatimean?

(That title is for you @Nolski)

Well, well, well.

I don't really have any clean-cut topics to discuss tonight so it's mainly going to be rapid fire.

So here we go:

fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire.

Get it? Rapid...fire. Yeah, I know, I'm good.

The Rangers are really hitting these past two nights. It's probably because Chris Davis is a Red Hawk. Also, I'm so beat down by the #voteiankinsler bit that everyone is taking part of. I want to see him there just as much as the next Rangers homer does, but I don't need to be reminded to vote every 30 sec. by Josh Lewin and his gang of ironically awkward puns. Sometimes I just want me some down home Eric Nadel.

I finally finished this season of LOST, and WOW. Strong showing. Best acting I've ever seen out of Sawyer. I loved the scene where Juliet was dangling by a thread in the tunnel? nuclear war zone? magnate suction cup thing? She ends up falling (big surprise), but to come back to life and end up igniting the H-Bomb...that was sick. Every year, LOST leaves you with a few more answers but a million more questions you know will never get answered, yet everyone returns ready to suckle on the teet of one of the greatest shows I've witnessed in my 22 years of existence. Good stuff right there.

Has anyone been paying attention to what the Cowboys have been doing in the past few months? I didn't think so. Maybe that's a good thing...

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are actually choosing to trade for Shawn Marion (what a pure shooting stroke he has). I guess, technically, his skills will upgrade the current roster, but when we get a guy like Gortat (who I do really like) who also immediately upgrades the roster, what does that tell you about Shawn Marion and the current Mavs roster? Dropping large amounts of cash on a 30 year old who relies solely on dwendling athleticism and the hope of being wide open in the corner for a three, really makes me question what the Mavs are doing this off season. If there is another move to happen afterward, regarding Josh Howard, maybe this makes more sense, but as of now it doesn't seem like a great personnel move. This sums up how I feel about the whole situation: "The Mavs trade leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Like an Andes mint, its tastes good, but doesn't get the job done." I tweeted that to Bob Sturm in hopes of a RT or response, but so far I got nothing.

Music update: check out The Everybodyfields. Apparently they aren't a band anymore (pursuing their own careers), but they've got a great sound. The Josh Weathers Band, or more recently known as Josh Weathers & the True+Endeavors, are also a great band with an excellent soul sound. They are also from Ft. Worth, so I know at least Garrett Sublette will check them out.

Check out Raising Canes chicken fingers. Great quick-service restraurant. The Ryan "Q-Train, Coach Q, Q-Tip, Quid(s), Quiddles, Twill, Club Q, Q-Tickle, and Stephen" Quidley even gave their sweet tea 5 out of 5 stars.

One last blurb. This is EXACTLY how I feel about sports. No ifs, ands, or buts about it:

"As I was leaving a frigid Texas Stadium after the game, I was walking right behind a Dad and his boy. The boy must have been 7 or 8 years old and was crying about the result. Some people might roll their eyes, but I knew how the boy felt. When you are young, and you love a sports team, you believe the games and the seasons will all have the happy endings of the Disney movies that you watch. Guess what, son, if you are going to pledge allegiance to a team as it appears you have with the Dallas Cowboys, I want to welcome you to the fellowship of the die-hards. Understand, that once you do, you are not allowed out of this commitment, and you should also understand that most seasons are going to end in tears. A favorite team is the only thing a male human feels the same about when he is 5 and when he is 45 and when he is 75. You will change your mind on everything else. Girls, money, hobbies. But, you will always still feel the adrenaline rush of a win, and the gutting sadness of a horrible loss. I didn’t say anything to the boy, as his Dad was handling it (and he might not have welcomed my advice) but I felt for him. Welcome to sports, young man. Someday, you may live to see a championship or five, but most years will end with your guts spilling onto the floor." - Bob Sturm

p.s. Count how many times I wrote "fire" in a row. PC
